If you are shopping for custom glass in North Jersey, two names come up again and again: Quicken Glass and AMG Glass & Metal. Full transparency: this comparison is published by Quicken Glass, and we have included ourselves for a reason. AMG Glass is a real, established New Jersey competitor, and everything below comes from public information as of September 2026. Where we could not verify a claim, we say so instead of guessing.
Quicken Glass is a family owned and operated full service glass and mirror company based at 22 Elizabeth Ave in Newark. Our team brings 20+ years of industry experience, and we are a direct manufacturer: we design, fabricate, and install everything we sell, with no middleman between your project and the shop. Our work covers frameless shower enclosures, custom mirrors, glass railings, shelving and tabletops, wine cellars, and a full commercial lineup of storefronts, curtain walls, partitions, and emergency repair.
AMG Glass & Metal operates from 400 South Ave in Middlesex, NJ. Their website states the company has been in business for over 40 years, and they have grown into one of the state's larger frameless shower door and custom glass operations. AMG runs both a residential shower door division and a commercial glass and metal division covering curtain wall systems, storefronts, and interior glass.
Both companies are legitimate. The real difference is how the work gets produced: who fabricates your glass, how many hands it passes through, and how quickly it gets done.
Frameless shower doors are the top request for most North Jersey homeowners, and AMG has built strong name recognition around exactly that. Quicken Glass builds the same range and then some. We fabricate frameless shower doors and enclosures, sliding systems, inline doors, and neo-angle enclosures, along with framed units and shower door kit installation for tighter budgets and faster timelines.
Beyond the bathroom, we custom cut and install mirrors for bathrooms, gyms, and entryways, build glass railings for stairs and balconies, and fabricate shelving, tabletops, and wine cellars. A homeowner planning more than one project, or a property owner mixing residential and commercial work, gets it all from one shop instead of coordinating two or three.
Both companies advertise commercial capability. AMG's commercial division promotes curtain wall systems, storefronts, and interior glass for commercial and residential projects across New Jersey.
Quicken Glass handles storefront glass and door installation and repair, curtain walls, commercial glass railings, office partitions, and 24/7 emergency commercial glass repair across North and Central Jersey, from Jersey City to Elizabeth and everywhere in between. For contractors, property managers, and franchises, the appeal is one licensed and insured partner who fabricates in-house and answers quickly when a storefront cannot wait.
Neither company publishes a flat rate sheet, because honest custom glass pricing depends on glass type, thickness, panel size, hardware finish, door style, and layout complexity. We cannot verify AMG's current pricing, so we will not guess at exact numbers.
What we can compare is public reputation. AMG's reviews on third-party aggregators run strongly positive, roughly 4.9 out of 5 across more than 200 reviews, with customers frequently praising attention to detail, cleanliness, and a quick turnaround between measurement and installation. Quicken Glass earns strong marks for responsiveness, fit, and safety on every job. Checking each company's Google Business Profile rating and reading the most recent reviews is a smart first step for any buyer.
On value, the question to ask is who actually makes your glass. A direct manufacturer controls quality and schedule in a way a reseller cannot, and in-house fabrication removes the markup and the wait that come with ordering from someone else's shop.
Installation quality decides how your glass performs for years. Our process starts with field measurements at your home or business, then checks wall conditions, door alignment, and existing hardware before we fabricate anything.
Glass moves through cutting, tempering, and quality checks in our own shop. For shower doors we handle hinge and track hardware, anchoring, and final silicone seal checks. For storefronts we verify frame alignment, weatherproofing, and hardware function before we call the job finished. You will know exactly what happens between your free consultation and your finished glass, from first measurement to last check.
Ask both companies about warranty coverage before you sign anything. Find out what workmanship coverage includes and what it leaves out, including hardware defects, glass breakage exclusions, seal or sweep coverage, and leak-related service calls. AMG advertises a 100% satisfaction guarantee on its website, which is worth asking them to put in writing with specifics.
Quicken Glass covers a wide service mix, so after-install communication matters for both homes and businesses. We stay available for storefront hardware support, shower door adjustments, and follow-up repairs long after the install crew leaves. A single call should solve your glass problem, not start a search for who installed what.
AMG Glass is a solid pick, especially for a straightforward frameless shower door, and their review record backs that up. Quicken Glass fits better when you want a direct manufacturer who designs, fabricates, and installs under one roof, covering shower enclosures, mirrors, railings, storefronts, partitions, and emergency repair across Newark, Northern New Jersey, and Central New Jersey. A direct manufacturer designs, fabricates, and installs under one roof, which typically means faster turnaround, tighter quality control, and lower total cost. A reseller orders your glass from someone else's shop and adds a markup and a wait.
